WHAT'S AN INTEGRATION COURSE?

bundesamtAn Integration Course is a German Course that is funded by the German government. It consists of six modules of 100 lessons each, Level A1 - B1, no higher levels. It is followed by an Orientation Course (100 lessons) in which students are familiarised with German law, culture and history.
The course ends with a final test made up of Orientation Course test plus the German test for immigrants.

Individual modules may be repeated but only 1300 lessons are state funded. Regular attendance is a requirement. Students are asked to pay a contribution of € 195 per module in advance, the fee for the Orientation Course is € 195, the end tests are free.

KLARTEXT e.V. offers both morning and afternoon courses (Info: Continuous German Courses ) as medium paced Integration Courses.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR AN INTEGRATION COURSE?

For example Non-Germans with a residence permit valid for more than one year (exceptions are au-pair visa and language student visa), e.g. for family reunion, work, humanitarian grounds, and EU citizens will be entitled - in some cases obliged - to attend an Integration Course.

In order to enrole on such a course an entitlement document is necessary.

WHERE CAN YOU GET THIS ENTITLEMENT?

Recent immigrants will get their document on registering their residence with the
KVR (Kreisverwaltungsreferat), Ausländerbehörde, or at your relevant Landratsamt.

Non-Germans already resident in Germany and EU citizens put their application for a subsidised Integration Course to the Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF).
Application forms are available from KLARTEXT e. V. and can be found in the Internet under: BAMF: Forms and applications

If you are receiving transfer payments through Sozialhilfe or Arbeitslosengeld II you can make an application for free tuition.

Jobcenter-clients may get an obligation to join a language course through the Jobcenter.
